SamsVante Technologies Ltd ("SamsVante", "we", "us") is a software company registered in Kenya, building and automating systems for businesses across a portfolio of products.
Wazi is a SamsVante product: our caller-ID and protection app for mobile users, starting in Kenya. This is Wazi's product-specific policy. It sits under SamsVante's company-wide privacy practices as the operating entity, and where this policy is silent, those broader commitments apply.
We keep nothing about you beyond your registration details. Everything below either stays on your phone, or is used only in the moment and never stored against your identity on our servers.
Wazi's whole job is to sit between you and your phone in real time, checking every call and message as it arrives. When that breaks, it usually breaks silently, exactly when you needed it: an unidentified scammer rings through, a spam number slips past Focus Shield, a report never gets logged. A crash report is the only way we find out that happened before it happens to many more people.
That's why crash reporting is on by default rather than something you have to discover and switch on. An opt-in toggle mostly reaches people after they've already been let down by a bug, not before.
It costs you nothing to leave on. A crash report is a technical stack trace and a device model, generated automatically by Android itself. It cannot contain your calls, your messages, your contacts, or anything that identifies you. Wazi's core promise, that this data never leaves your device, holds exactly the same either way.
You stay in control. Turn it off any time under Settings → Data & Privacy → Crash Reports. Nothing else changes if you do: caller ID, spam warnings and Focus Shield all keep working exactly as before.
There is a switch in the app called Contacts Sync, and the word "sync" is misleading. It does not send your phonebook anywhere.
Here is the whole of it. When the switch is on, Wazi reads the phone numbers already saved on your device and writes them into its own database on that same device, so Focus Shield knows which callers are people you already know and lets them ring through. Only the numbers are read; names, emails and photos are not. There is no network request involved at any point, no copy on our servers and no account holding it. The list refreshes every few hours so a contact you saved yesterday is not treated as a stranger, and switching it off deletes it immediately.
Numbers are checked solely so we can show you a registered name while your phone is ringing. Results are kept on your phone for seven days to save you data. We do not store your lookups on our servers, and we keep no user data beyond your registration details.
Personal data is stored on your device in an encrypted database (AES-256, protected by the Android Keystore). Your mobile number and settings use encrypted storage. No personal data is sent to our servers.
Wazi is free with ads once your daily allowance for identifying callers runs out; Wazi Pro removes them entirely. Ads are served through Google AdMob. If you're in the EEA or UK you're shown a consent choice under GDPR before any ad is requested. Google's own privacy policy governs how it handles ad data. We never hand Google your contacts, your messages or your call history, only what's needed to request an ad.
